Dns host record not updating
My desktop also has one thats 2 months old but some otehr entires for users desktops which come from DHCP are current while some are not? I have 2 DCs, both are DNS servers which are AD Integrated and DC1 is also my DHCP server. I dont want to turn scavenging on with these timestamps in case after the refresh cycle I'm guessing my DCs will get removed from DNS!?
This is because it takes time for the DNS to take effect across the internet. For example, a client may acquire its IP address from a DHCP server, but the DNS records would not reflect the IP address acquired nor provide a mapping from the new IP address to the computer name (FQDN).In Windows 2000, DHCP servers and clients can register with DNS to provide this update service if the DNS server supports DNS with dynamic updates.Microsoft is conducting an online survey to understand your opinion of the Msdn Web site.If you choose to participate, the online survey will be presented to you when you leave the Msdn Web site.
